Linda Bendorf (M.A.T., J.D., The University of Iowa) is an accomplished writer and award-winning teacher who has inspired remarkable writing among students of all ages.
Throughout her career, she's worked with creative, innovative colleagues in education, development and marketing. She served as Language Arts Department Chair at Southeast Junior H.S. in Iowa City where she co-authored a winning U.S. Department of Education "top schools" application; participated in the Iowa Summer Writing Project; taught at the Belin Blank International Center for Gifted Education; served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at Coe College and as external consultant for ACT, Inc. As a member of the National Association of Governing Boards, Linda worked as a member of a team selected to create national writing frameworks and standards.
Bendorf currently offers writing workshops through the University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival and as Founder and Director of Blue Sage Writing, a Chicago area company offering workshops, coaching and consulting. Her signature workshops include: Writing Personal Columns, Jumpstarting Your Creativity, Postcards from Midlife, Writing Your Lifestories, Capturing Childhood, and Writing the College Application Essay.

Linda says, “Whether students are thirteen, thirty or eighty, my goal is to create engaging, relevant lessons that help students identify and build on their strengths, and move beyond their limitations. I creatively synthesize materials and methods with ‘best classroom practices’ to achieve the desired outcome for each student. My workshops are energizing and engaging, not only because of what I do, but because each participant brings so much to the table. “

Linda’s features and columns have appeared in newspapers and magazines nationwide, including The Des Moines Register, USA Today (under Guest Columns Editor, Sid Hurlburt), and the Iowa City Press Citizen. Her poems have appeared in 100 Words.
She presented Positive Mid-Life Discoveries: Celebrating the Harvest, at Beyond Rubies: A Woman’s Conference presented by Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and also the keynote address at the Indian Creek Nature Center’s Women’s Walking Workshop.
After three decades in Iowa and a frolic and detour to Minneapolis, Linda and her husband Carl, are joyfully settled in the Chicago area, Linda’s home turf, where she enjoys gardening, walking, culinary creations, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family, including her husband, two daughters, and Tiny Terriers, Rudy and Kiwi. |
